چکیده
Evolution by natural selection is key to understanding life and of considerable practical importance in public health, medicine, biotechnology, agriculture. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) include among several evolutionary concepts that all third-graders should know. This article explores a novel approach developing testing curricula for teaching related children. College students developed lesson plans with specific learning objectives based on the NGSS taught them at elementary schools. Learning was assessed pre/post-test design, subset retested after two years. After just hours instruction active-learning activities, three grade levels tested (grades 3–5) demonstrated substantial improvement their concepts. Students who were 5 scored higher than fifth-graders had not participated previously. most challenging common ancestry selection, but showed more third- fourth-graders. If this finding substantiated further research, an adjustment schedule might be warranted. Spacing biology out better strategy concentrating 3.

Teaching Bioinformatics at the Secondary School Level
Bioinformatics is now an integral part of biology and biological research. The field began with a few people from other disciplines teaching themselves and each other the techniques that are now considered commonplace. These pioneers then began graduate programs [1–3] to educate the next generation. Those early graduate students typically came as bench biologists or as computer scientists, both...

15 صفحه اولA Formalization Of Standard Knowledge And Skills For The French Elementary School Curricula
In the education field, in order to achieve learning goals, it is necessary to define learning paths that foresee a gradual and incremental acquisition of certain knowledge and skills that students should acquire. In this paper we analyze the educational progressions of the French educational system, we show how to formalize them through a web ontology and how to perform knowledge extraction fr...
متن کاملDeveloping and Testing an Online Tool for Teaching GIS Concepts Applied to Spatial Decision-making
The development and testing of a Web-based GIS e-learning resource is described. This focuses on the application of GIS for siting a nuclear waste disposal facility and the associated principles of spatial decision-making using Boolean and weighted overlay methods. Initial student experiences in using the system are analysed as part of a research project on teaching GIS concepts to large number...
